About Us
Our bars are developed to be delicious and nutritious; an energy fuel that is suited to anybody of any age who is looking to improve their diet within an active life.
We care deeply about the quality and taste of every bar that we make, and we recognise that we only have a business if our customers order again and again. We are grateful to every customer that supports us. Our customers include sports centres, health food shops, farm shops, and many beautiful independent cafes and delis, as well as countless people at home who buy them for their families.
N’eat Natural Energy Bars were launched in 2014 by Chris Collins and Anthony Jenks, both having been involved in the launch and ongoing growth of successful food brands over many years. Our bars are produced in a BRC approved production facility in Winchester.
Do we eat the bars ourselves?
Yes, I (Anthony) changed my diet following a cancer diagnosis a few years ago.
I was eating too much confectionery, and my artificial/refined sugar intake was out of control. I believe it was a factor in getting unwell. I am not Vegan, but I cut out red meat, dairy, wheat and artificial/refined sugar. I now eat lots of fruits and vegetables. I do a lot of sport, and one N’eat Bar per day is an essential part of my diet.
Charities we Support
We 100% recognise the need to balance our choice of ingredients, nutritional values, taste and manufacturing processes within a context of our impact on the environment.
We will not use palm oil because we are especially concerned for the welfare of wildlife around the world. For these reasons we support Born Free and Orangutan Appeal as corporate partners.
Why are our bars not Protein Bars?
Marketed as a boost to strength and fitness, we are doubtful of the many Protein Bars on sale. Presented as “functional” or even “good for you”, many are glorified confectionary bars.
Protein bars are generally classified as ultra-processed foods because their ingredients include industrial oils (like palm oil), thickeners, artificial flavours, and preservatives. Many contain as much refined sugar as traditional confectionery, and manufacturers will often use artificial sugar alcohols like “erythritol”, “maltitol”, “sorbitol”, and synthetic fibres like “inulin” that may trigger digestive/dietary distress.
Why are our bars not stocked in the big Supermarkets?
Our business background is predominantly in the food service sector (cafes - both on the high street and within business / sports venues). We are a relatively small company, and we prefer to supply numerous independent customers rather than be at the mercy of a handful of big supermarket groups.
